MGA Research Corp is recognized worldwide as one of the leading independent providers of testing services and equipment/facilities which serves a wide range of industries including automotive, aerospace, and defense. The company started in 1977 near Buffalo, New York with the three founders (Miller, Greene, Arendt) and has since expanded to locations in Wisconsin, Michigan, South Carolina, Virginia, and Canada.
The company purchased the former AMC Proving Grounds in Burlington, WI from Chrysler Corporation in 1988 and today uses the 400 acre facility for much more than it was originally intended. As an independent services provider with multiple locations and disciplines, they offer a unique view on industry and government needs.
Along with UW – Madison, they have hosted the SAE Midwest Baja at their Wisconsin location in 2006, 2009, and are also planning for June 2012.
The tour will include a walkthrough and discussion on various test equipment/technologies as well as a drive through on many of the test track surfaces and remote test area.
Safety glasses are required – MGA will provide to anyone without glasses

Presenters
Jeff Lewandowski – Mr. Lewandowski is an electrical engineer (Marquette) who joined MGA in 2002, after a significant career with AO Smith and Tower Automotive. Today, Jeff leads the servo-hydraulic laboratory in Wisconsin and also has a lead role in occupant safety related activities. Jeff will present the global aspects of MGA, our background in vibration, and the role of using simulation systems to improve the performance of products in the field.
Ben Fischer – Mr. Fischer is a mechanical engineer (UW – Madison) who joined MGA in 2006 and has a lead role in the crashworthiness area. Ben is a test coordinator for MGA with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and will present the background of crash related items such as New Car Assessment Program (NCAP) star ratings and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) tests.
